The Grand Traverse County Republican party is shocked and deeply saddened by the assassination of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point. We had members of Turning Point speak at our events in the last election cycle. We used their materials, utilized their resources and promoted Charlie's belief in speaking truth in love during civil discourse. Charlie's death will not be forgotten and his message has already grown accross the world. Our thoughts and prayers go to his wife and children who will carry the sorrow of losing a husband and father. We beleive respectful dialogue is essential to a strong community. While differences of opinion are natural, civility and mutual respect should always be the tone of conversation. We do not condone or support violence against anyone becaUse of differing beliefs. We encourage citizens of Grand Traverse County to remember that the right to free speech is a founding principle in our Constitutional Republic! And that open debate without fear over safety is a liberty that makes America great!
