For thirty years, Michael D. LaFaive has followed Michigan’s tax dollars — through corporate subsidy deals, state budgets and economic development programs — and reported back on what taxpayers actually get for them. His research helped bring an end to Michigan’s MEGA tax credit program, and reporters have called on him more than 1,300 times in the past decade.

Mr. LaFaive is Senior Director of the Morey Fiscal Policy Initiative at the Mackinac Center for Public Policy. He joins us for an open conversation on Michigan’s budget, taxes and economic development spending, followed by audience Q&A.
