HB 4945

HB 4945: Ban firearms from people convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence. 

BUT it goes WAY beyond domestic violence issues.  This HB was PASSED by our Democrat lawmakers and will be LAW in February 2024.  If convicted under the huge list of violations, you will lose your rights to possess guns for 8 years!!!I’ve attached the law.  Refer to Table 3 to view the list of many ADDITIONAL violations they tacked onto this law that has NOTHING to do with domestic violence such as:

  • False statements regarding veterans benefits
  • Employment Violations
  • Election Law Violations
    • Filing false statement regarding election challengers or failing to perform duties under Section 168.731(4) Michigan Election Law
  • Violation of Michigan Campaign Finance Act
  • Michigan Vehicle Code Violations
    • Allowing vehicle to be operated by somone intoxicate or visibly impaired causing serious impairment of body functioning
    • Failure to slow and use due caution when passing emergency vehicle causing injury
  • NREPA (Natural Resources Environmental Protection Act) – Violations — lots added
    • Possession of nonaquatic prohibited species
    • Possession of an aquatic prohibited species
    • Possession of a restricted species
    • Unlawfully removing forest products with value over $2,500
    • Careless, reckless or negligent operation of a water vessel or snowmobile causing serious injury or death
  • Violations of the Public Health Code
    • Possession of more than12 grams of ephendrine or pseudoephedrine
    • Registered patient or caregiver selling marijuana to someone not allowed medical use of marijuana
  • Occupational Code Violations
    • Unliscensed practice as a residential builder or residential maintenance and alteration contractor, 2nd offense
    • Employment of minor in position involving cash transactions after certain time, 2nd offense
  • Michigan Penal Code Violations
    • Improper use of taser or similar device
    • Unlawful use of self-defense spray or foam device
    • Recording a movie, 2nd offense
    • Ethnic intimidation for race, color ,religion, gender, or national origin
    • Joyriding
    • Squatting

Many of these ADDED violations have NOTHING to do with domestic violence acts but more ways to take gun possession rights away from the people of Michigan.  Betsy Coffia and the rest of the democratic lawmakers voted YES to pass this.
