Michigan Trivia

Submitted by Chris Holz:

That president was the flamboyant Andrew Jackson. His Vice President and Secretary of State was Martin VanBuren, who later became President. Jackson’s Secretary of the Navy was John Branch and his second Secretary of War was Lewis Cass (later a Michigan governor, by the way), while his first Secretary of War was John Eaton. Secretary of the Treasury was Samuel Ingham, Attorney General was John Berrien, Postmaster General was William Berry and finally, Jackson’s second Secretary of State was Edward Livingston. Because these people constituted Jackson’s Cabinet, these ten Michigan counties are sometimes referred to as the “Cabinet Counties”.
